Mission & History

The Program on Conflict Resolution (PCR) aims to engage in research that furthers an understanding of disputing and dispute settlement practices and to encourage the practice and testing of a variety of dispute resolution procedures. PCR has a core of experienced educators and trainers in the areas of negotiation, mediation, and facilitation. Training takes place within the University, across the state, and internationally. The program is known for its emphasis and expertise in the cross-cultural aspects of conflict. PCR tailors its work to the organization and the culture it is working in. PCR's faculty each have more than a decade of experience as mediators, arbitrators, and trainers in alternative dispute resolution. They conduct training programs in Hawaii, the United States, Australia, Canada, the Pacific Islands, and Asia.
