Research
Over the years, the Matsunaga Institute for Peace has been involved in researching almost all aspects of peace and conflict resolution. The Program on Conflict Resolution has sustained a long and varied research program, emphasizing the cultural aspects. Early Institute projects included third-track diplomacy with regard to the two Koreas and the Cambodian factions after the fall of the Khmer Rouge. The Institute has also been associated with several projects fostering democracy in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union through its association with the International Center for Democracy. With the Center for Global Nonviolence, the Institute has worked closely on a number of joint book publishing projects. The Institute has also been very active in bring the results of its research both in peace and in conflict resolution into the local community, especially into the schools.
